Art academician and architect Mona Schalin discusses the architectural history of Rikhardinkatu Library.

The building was completed in 1881 and was the first structure in the Nordic region designed specifically as a public library when it opened. It was designed by architect Theodor Höijer, and the library opened to the public on 1 September 1882.
