In September, Jyväskylä Burlesque celebrates its 10th anniversary with the musical classic Gypsy - The Striptease Queen (1962). Note: The film has no Finnish subtitles. Before the film, the audience will enjoy live local burlesque, and after the film, Bettie Blackheart will be the discussion guest.

The film follows the life and rise of Rose Louise Hovick (1911-1970), who performed under the stage name Gypsy Rose Lee, in the shadow of her controlling mother Mama Rose, who began building Louise and her sister June into stars from childhood. The work is a film adaptation of the eponymous Broadway musical, which in turn is based on Gypsy Rose Lee's own memoirs.

After the film, Bettie Blackheart will guide the audience through the golden age of old Hollywood and burlesque - the world of Mae West, Marilyn Monroe, Dixie Evans, and Jennie Lee.
