Film of the Month - Nordic Cinema: BEGINNINGS (Jeanette Nordahl, Denmark 2025)

Ane (Trine Dyrholm) and Thomas (David Dencik) are middle-aged parents of two school-age children who are getting divorced. Thomas has a new partner he plans to move in with - but first he needs to tell his daughters, who know nothing about the separation.

Their plans unravel when Ane suddenly suffers a stroke, leaving half her body paralyzed. The couple decides to postpone the move and continue living together for now - a decision with unexpected consequences.

Danish director Jeanette Nordahl made her breakthrough with Wildland (Espoo Ciné 2020), a film about a criminal family. Beginnings premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival.
