Elli's Film Evening

Elli's Film Evening showcases short dance films and invites discussion of the viewing experience. The programme consists of dance films created by the Myrskyryhmä group in collaboration with older adults. Community artist and dance educator Elli Isokoski introduces the films and facilitates the discussion.

The programme features three films:

Walk Alongside (2021), directed by Kati Kallio - a film about lifelong friendship, life's vitality, and loneliness. The story takes viewers from childhood through youth and working years into old age, with the seasons woven together through a mirror game.

The Cranes' Call (2022), directed by Vilma Tihilä - people walking in the forest hear the call of cranes and gather to follow it to a meadow. The film was created in collaboration with Muistijengis, the memory association of Kanta-Häme, at whose request a continuation was made to Myrskyryhmä's earlier dance film Crane.

Ode to Age (2025), directed by Kati Kallio - the film follows older women who grow weary of life's greyness, shed their everyday clothes, and surrender to a wild Finnish summer. The concept and script were developed in Idutus workshops with women aged 75-88.

Myrskyryhmä is a dance group active since 2002 that has developed participatory methods for dance filmmaking in collaboration with dance filmmaker Kati Kallio and older adults since 2010. The group was founded by dance artist Elli Isokoski.
