At the Roots of Western Architecture

The Roman architect Vitruvius wrote the only complete account of ancient architecture that has survived to us, and its influence has been enormous. Beyond theory, the Romans developed the world's first concrete, arches and vaults, and built an extensive network of roads and aqueducts. This lecture series explores Roman architecture both in Rome itself and throughout the empire.
