MuseoFest: Treasures of Luolasto - Guided Tour at Kanavuori Collections Center

As part of the MuseoFest programme, you can explore the collections of Jyväskylä University Library and Science Museum through guided tours called "Treasures of Luolasto" at Kanavuori.

The Kanavuori cave houses the collections and storage facilities of Jyväskylä University's Centre for Open Knowledge across three levels. The Science Museum's collections tell the story of the university and its predecessors, starting from the teacher training college of the 1800s. The library collections contain numerous nationally valuable printed materials - including a 125-metre-long legal deposit collection. Expert guides present interesting objects and materials during the tour.

Tours are held on Saturday 14.11.2026 at Varikkotie 160, 40800 Jyväskylä in two sessions: 12.00-13.15 and 13.45-15.00. The tour is conducted in Finnish. On the same day, guided tours of the Alvar Aalto Museum collections are also held at Kanavuori at 13.30-14.15 and 15.15-16.00 - you can attend both if you wish.

Participation requires advance registration and a MuseoFest festival wristband (28-22 €). Registration links are sent by email after purchasing the wristband. Places are limited and filled in order of registration. The tour is not fully accessible - any mobility concerns should be noted during registration.
