Elle Sofe Sara's drama ÁRRU follows Sámi families fighting for their homeland against a copper mining project. Single mother Maia (Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska), her daughter Áilin (Ayla Nutti) and her brother Dánel (Simon Issát Marainen) live and work in Sápmi, in the landscapes of northern Scandinavia, where their community and traditional way of life are threatened by industrial expansion.

As protests grow, Maia seeks help from her long-absent uncle Lemmel (Mikkel Gaup), a charismatic lawyer. Lemmel's return stirs up old family conflicts and forces Maia to choose between family and conscience - while the family's long-hidden secrets begin to surface.

Using traditional Sámi song and dance, ÁRRU explores intergenerational trauma, survival, and humanity's relationship with the land.
