Youth Peace Week: TJ28 Film Screening

Youth Peace Week presents Palestinian-Finnish director Yasmin Najjari's short film TJ28, followed by a discussion with the director about the film's themes. The screening is free and takes place on Monday, 14 September at 18:00-20:00 at Eteläranta 8 (3rd floor), 00130 Helsinki. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

The film follows Palestinian-Finnish Amani Lillak as she completes her voluntary military service in Finland's army medical units. During a final exercise, she learns of an escalating crisis in her father's homeland - in the army, war is a game, but her Palestinian family experiences it as reality. The film draws on Najjari's own experiences of voluntary military service, and she also plays the lead role. TJ28 is her master's thesis from film studies at Aalto University's School of Film, Television and Theatre.

The event is in Finnish. Participants will be reimbursed for travel costs according to Changemaker's travel guidelines upon presentation of bus and train tickets.
