California Schemin' - Love & Anarchy 17-27.9.2026

Scottish amateur rappers Gavin and Billy keep running into the same problem: their Scottish accent makes judges laugh at London auditions, and their career won't take off. When a music magazine asks "Do you want to be the next Eminem?", they say yes - and find a solution. They start performing as American rappers to gain the credibility their Scottish background denies them. Soon "Brains" and "Silibili" are under record producer Anthony's (James McAvoy) wing in London, heading toward money and fame.

The weight of deception tests the friendship between the two men. California Schemin' is a dark comedy, a music film, and a human drama - at times even a thriller. The film is based on true events and marks James McAvoy's directorial debut.
