International Day of Peace Film Screening

The International Day of Peace is celebrated on 21 September, and to mark the occasion, Kino Laika hosts a film screening and discussion on Thursday 24.9.2026 at 18:00. The event is under the patronage of Aki Kaurismäki.

The programme features the documentary "A Fox Under A Pink Moon" (2025) by Mehrdad Oskoui, about young Afghan sculptor Soraya Akhlaghi. She lives in Tehran and dreams of reaching Europe to be with her mother. The film won the top prize at Idfa - the world's largest documentary film festival - a year ago. The runtime is 76 minutes, and the film has English subtitles.

Following the screening, a discussion takes place with Zabi Yawari, Jari Valtari and Teemu Matinpuro (Peace Advocates Finland). The discussion is moderated by Sanna Valtonen (Support for Asylum Seekers rf).
