Stabat Mater

Kilven Kuoro, Kamarikuoro SonorEnsemble, and the Helsinki Police Band perform Karl Jenkins's Stabat Mater (2007) at Temppeliaukio Church on 13 November 2026. Doors open at 17.30 and the concert begins at 18.30 (ending around 19.30).

Stabat Mater is a Catholic hymn from the 13th century about Mary's suffering during the crucifixion of Jesus. In Jenkins's composition, the text is sung in English, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. The soprano solos are performed by Pia Freund, with composer-singer Säde Bartling also taking solo roles. The concert is conducted by MuT Sami Ruusuvuori, with choir coaching by MuT Hanna Remes.
