Artist Discussion

The artist discussion examines the The art of group exhibition, which considers visual art, architecture, and design in parallel and reflects on how they can enrich one another. During the discussion on 23.9.2026 from 18.00 to 19.30, artist Henrietta Lehtonen, architect and musician Tuomas Toivonen, and exhibition curator Mika Savela discuss ideas sparked by the exhibition and the interplay between architecture and art.

Henrietta Lehtonen is an architect by training who entered the international art scene during the "relational aesthetics" wave of the 1990s. In the exhibition, she presents the work Nest (reconstruction of a nest I wanted to build 6 years old), which returns to the hybrid installations of that period. Tuomas Toivonen founded Kultursauna in 2013 together with graphic designer Nene Tsuboi - a public bathhouse and cultural space in Helsinki's Fish Harbour. L'Esprit de l'Escalier is a publishing project founded by Åbäken, Nene Tsuboi, Tuomas Toivonen, and Markus Lähteenmäki. Mika Savela is an architect and doctor of philosophy who has worked in design, urbanism, art, criticism, research, and curation in Finland and internationally.
