Light in the Window: Ilmari Huitin in the Huitin Room

The Valimomuseo's Huitin art room summer exhibition Light in the Window presents Ilmari Huitin's interpretation of light streaming through windows into interior spaces. The exhibition features Huitin's works from the 1930s to 1950s; the 1950s pieces primarily depict his final home, the Aittamäki house at Vaskijärvi in Karkkila. Some works focus on interior spaces, others on the landscape visible through the window.

Huitin's works frequently employ translucent curtains in front of windows - they soften the light as it falls on objects or people. The interplay of light and shadow in emphasizing forms is a central theme in his artistic practice.

The exhibition brings together 14 paintings from various collections, some of which have not been previously displayed. The works include pieces from the Ilmari Huitin Foundation and the HH Art Collections, as well as works loaned by private individuals.

The exhibition is open during museum hours: May Sat-Sun 12-15, July Wed-Sun 11-17, and August Sat-Sun 12-15. The museum is closed on Midsummer. Admission 8 € / 5 €, under 18s free. Payment methods accepted: bank card, Museum Card, Epassi, and Kaiku card.
