Kuninkaantien muusikot, Guillaume de Machaut: Messe de Nostre Dame

Guillaume de Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is a medieval masterpiece over 650 years old and one of the earliest complete Mass settings to have survived to the present day. To put its age in perspective: it is as far removed from Bach as Bach is from us.

In this concert, Musicians of the King's Road performs under the direction of Belgian conductor Marnix De Cat. He was one of the four singers of the legendary Flemish ensemble Capilla Flamenca and is especially renowned as a refined interpreter of Renaissance polyphony. For the performance, the ensemble uses a Renaissance music stand.
