Adrian Belew (born 1949, Covington, Kentucky) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter best known for his 28-year run as frontman and co-writer in King Crimson, which he joined in 1981. His guitar style is instantly recognisable - he coaxes animal sounds, mechanical rumbles, and electronic textures from the instrument using effects and unconventional technique. Beyond King Crimson, he has worked as a touring and session musician with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, and Nine Inch Nails, and has released around twenty solo albums.
