Anna Clyne (born 1980, London) is a British composer based in New York, working across acoustic and electroacoustic music. Her orchestral writing draws on visual art, poetry and dance, sitting somewhere between post-romanticism and the contemporary avant-garde - and she has become one of the most frequently performed living composers in the world. She has held residencies with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic and many others, and her works have been commissioned by Carnegie Hall, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Sydney Opera House, among others.
Clyne won an Ivor Novello Award for her piece Orbits for chorus and solo violin.
Clyne's album Abstractions, featuring the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop, was released on Naxos.
Bachtrack named Clyne the most performed living woman composer in the world in its 'Classical Music in 2025' report.
The world premiere of PALETTE, Clyne's Concerto for Augmented Orchestra, was given by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and conductor Stéphane Denève on 14-15 February 2025.
Clyne's album SHORTHAND was released on Sony Classical, featuring collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Pekka Kuusisto and Avi Avital, among others.
