Dirt is a Helsinki-based hard rock five-piece founded in 2017, drawing on metal and grunge influences to craft a sound that sits somewhere between 1980s hard rock energy and 1990s Seattle-era riffs. Their debut album 'Deadbeat' (2022, Ranka Kustannus) earned year-end best-of picks from Inferno, Kaaoszine, Tuonela Magazine and Music Finland, and the band has since clocked over 3 million Spotify streams. After an extended hiatus caused by internal tensions, Dirt returned in late 2025 with new singles and a second album in the works.
Dirt released the single 'Sunder' in April 2026, their second new track since returning from hiatus, with a release show at Kuudes Linja in Helsinki on 25 April.
Dirt ended a three-year release silence with the single 'Born Again' on 29 October 2025, marking the band's first new music since the 'Deadbeat' album cycle.
Soundi reported in October 2025 that Dirt had overcome internal tensions that had stalled work on their second album after the 'Deadbeat' touring cycle ended.
The 'Sunder' single was co-written with JC Halttunen (Wolfram) and produced by Juho Salaterä, with the band describing it as a preview of their upcoming second album.
Dirt's debut album 'Deadbeat' was selected among the best albums of the year by Inferno, Kaaoszine, Tuonela Magazine and Music Finland upon its release in June 2022.
