Elolliset is a performance by Iida Turpeinen, WAUHAUS and Pipsa Lonka that traces the origins of the concept of extinction through the story of Steller's sea cow. A museum assembled and dismantled on stage guides the audience through the entangled histories of imperialism and early conservation thought. At its core, the piece asks what it means that humans can erase entire species from existence.
