Esa-Pekka Salonen is a Finnish conductor and composer who rose to international prominence as music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1992 to 2009. He has since led orchestras across the world and served as music director of the San Francisco Symphony. His compositions span orchestral and chamber works.
