Gabriel Kahane (born 1981, Venice Beach, California) is an American composer and singer-songwriter whose work moves freely between indie pop, chamber music, and music theater. The New Yorker has called him "one of the finest, most searching songwriters of the day," and he has been commissioned by Carnegie Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Oregon Symphony, among others. His five singer-songwriter albums - from the 2008 self-titled debut to Book of Travelers (Nonesuch, 2018) - are known for their literary precision and political attentiveness. He is the son of concert pianist Jeffrey Kahane.
Kahane announced his Carnegie Hall solo debut, 'Every love song is a protest', scheduled for February 9, 2027, with warm-up shows in Groton, MA and Saugerties, NY.
