About

Joey Calderazzo (born 1965, New Rochelle, New York) is an American jazz pianist who first came to wide attention as a member of Michael Brecker's quintet from 1987 and went on to record three albums for Blue Note Records in the early 1990s. Since 1998 he has been the pianist in the Branford Marsalis Quartet, stepping into the chair left by the late Kenny Kirkland - a partnership now spanning more than 25 years. As a leader he has released over a dozen albums under his own name, ranging from trio recordings to solo piano, and is regarded as one of the most accomplished composer-improvisers of his generation.
