Matthew Stubbs is a Boston-based blues guitarist best known as the founder and driving force of GA-20, a trio he formed in 2018 that plays raw, stripped-back Chicago blues rooted in the sounds of the 1950s and '60s. He spent over a decade as lead guitarist for harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite, and has also toured alongside blues giants John Hammond and James Cotton. GA-20 broke through quickly, landing a #2 debut on the Billboard Blues chart with their first album and a #1 with their first live record.
GA-20 released their album Orphans via Colemine Records on December 5, 2025, collecting blues covers and fan-favorite live staples that had never appeared on a studio record.
GA-20 announced the Orphans album and released a new single, a cover of Little Walter's 'My Baby Sweeter', in October 2025.
GA-20 released EP Volume 2 in spring 2025, featuring new vocalist and slide guitarist Cody Nilsen alongside founder Matthew Stubbs.
GA-20 is set to perform alongside Charlie Musselwhite on a joint 'Together Onstage' bill in September 2026, reuniting Stubbs with his long-time mentor.
GA-20 is scheduled to play Oslo, Norway in July 2026 as part of the Bysommer festival.
