MELANKOLIA is a four-piece metal band from Oulu, Finland, who coined the term 'murhemetalli' (grief metal) to describe their sound - heavy riffs and aching melodies that confront life's darkest moments head-on. The members first played together as teenagers, drifted apart for over a decade, and reunited in late 2024 with a sharper, darker edge. Their debut single 'Blue' was named track of the week on YleX, and the band has since been featured on Yle's Anne Lainto <3 Rock 'Tulevaisuuden tekijat' list.
MELANKOLIA and KYYT released a joint single 'Stay' and embarked on a shared spring tour including dates in Vantaa, Tallinn and Oulu.
Melankolia was featured as a guest on Yle's Anne Lainto <3 Rock programme and added to its 'Tulevaisuuden tekijat' (Future Makers) list.
Melankolia celebrated the release of their debut EP with a show at Semifinal in Helsinki on 7 March 2026.
Melankolia released their third single 'Waves', described as an intense portrayal of suicidal ideation, and played their first ever live show in Oulu on 6 September 2025.
Melankolia released their second single 'It Was Never Just the Weather' and announced autumn tour dates supporting Rock Band From Hell in Oulu, Helsinki and Kouvola.
