MDC (Millions of Dead Cops) is an American hardcore punk band that formed in Austin, Texas around 1979-1981 - originally as The Stains - before relocating to San Francisco and later settling in Portland, Oregon. Fronted throughout by singer Dave Dictor, the band is one of the founding acts of US hardcore and has kept releasing politically charged records for over four decades, tackling anti-capitalism, LGBTQ+ rights and police brutality. Their 1982 debut LP, distributed through Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles, remains a genre landmark.
MDC released 'The Last War', a covers album on Cleopatra Records featuring hardcore versions of songs by Motörhead, UK Subs, Woody Guthrie, Stevie Wonder and others.
MDC embarked on a European tour spanning cities including Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Amsterdam, Berlin and London.
MDC released 'War Is A Racket', their 10th studio album, on Cleopatra Records on September 29, 2023.
MDC played a run of California dates in February 2024 with a lineup featuring guitarist Barry d'live Ward, bassist Erica Liss and drummer Adam Crisis.
