About

MDC (Millions of Dead Cops) is an American hardcore punk band that formed in Austin, Texas around 1979 - first as The Stains, then relocating to San Francisco before settling in Portland, Oregon. Fronted throughout by vocalist Dave Dictor, the band was among the earliest acts to shape the sound of US hardcore punk and built a reputation for blunt, politically charged lyrics covering anti-capitalism, police brutality, gay rights and animal rights. Their 1982 self-titled debut is a genre landmark; Kurt Cobain included it in his personal top 50 albums of all time.
