Nazig Azezian is a Helsinki-based Finnish-Armenian pianist who graduated from the Sibelius Academy with a piano diploma with distinction in 2014. She is best known for her long-running duo with cellist Jussi Makkonen, with whom she has performed for hundreds of thousands of listeners across Finland and on tours spanning the US, Canada, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, the Philippines and the Middle East. Together they co-authored the children's book 'Melody Forest' (2015) on Jean Sibelius's life, distributed to every Finnish elementary school, and their accompanying Sibelius record became the first Finnish chamber music release to go platinum. Azezian also co-founded the annual Monola Festival in North Karelia, held at the site of Sibelius's honeymoon.
Azezian and Makkonen headlined the Monola Festival opening concert on 30 June 2025 in Lieksa, with further festival performances through 5 July.
Azezian performed with Makkonen at a dinner concert at Break Sokos Hotel Koli on 13 June 2025.
The duo performed at the Finnish Embassy's Independence Day gala concert at the Cultural Foundation Theatre in Abu Dhabi on 12 December 2024, joined by the Abu Dhabi Youth Orchestra.
Azezian and Makkonen gave a guest concert in Beirut, Lebanon at the Al Bustan concert hall and garden in June 2024.
The duo performed a Sibelius concert at Dubai Expo City in March 2024 and gave a private concert for US diplomats in Abu Dhabi.
