Oceans Ate Alaska are a metalcore band from Birmingham, England, formed in 2010. Their 2015 debut album Lost Isles put them on the map - Alternative Press named them one of the 100 bands you need to know - and they have since released two further albums, Hikari (2017) and Disparity (2022), each pushing their sound toward progressive territory with polyrhythmic riffs and shifting melodic textures. Since early 2024 the band has operated as an independent act with vocalist Joel Heywood at the front, and a fourth album was sent to mixing in July 2025.
The band announced that their fourth album (LP4) has been completed and sent to mixing.
Oceans Ate Alaska played a Japan tour in September 2025, with dates in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
The band parted ways with vocalist James Harrison, guitarist Adam Zytkiewicz and label Fearless Records, and introduced Joel Heywood as their new full-time vocalist alongside the single 'Endless Hollow'.
Oceans Ate Alaska joined Currents on a European and UK tour in February 2024, their first run of dates with the new lineup.
