Palast Orchester is a Berlin-based German orchestra founded by singer Max Raabe in 1985 with fellow students at the Berlin University of the Arts, giving its first public performance in 1987. The ensemble specialises in the cabaret and dance music of Weimar-era Germany and American popular songs of the same period, performing around 120 concerts a year. Raabe's dry wit and crystalline baritone have made the group a fixture on European concert stages, and their reach extended to Carnegie Hall in New York in 2024. The orchestra gained a new generation of fans through the hit TV series Babylon Berlin, for which Raabe co-wrote the theme song 'Ein Tag wie Gold'.
