Martin Schirenc is an Austrian guitarist and vocalist born in Vienna in 1968, best known as the founder of death metal band Pungent Stench, which he formed in 1988 and which gained a cult following for its mix of extreme metal, black humour, and provocative lyrics. After legal disputes prevented him from using the Pungent Stench name following a 2013 reunion attempt, he adopted the project name Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench in 2014 and has since toured Europe and beyond as a three-piece, performing the band's classic catalogue.

Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench co-headlined a German tour with Eisregen in October-November 2025, covering cities including Berlin, Leipzig, Bochum, Heidelberg and Munich.
The band was announced for Chile TerrorFest 2025, marking its first-ever appearance in South America.
