Snarky Puppy is an American instrumental collective founded in Denton, Texas in 2004 by bassist and composer Michael League, whose fluid membership - known as 'the Fam' - draws from jazz, funk, soul and world music. The band has won five Grammy Awards across the categories Best R&B Performance and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, and their albums regularly chart on Billboard's Jazz Albums list. Their 2025 release Somni, recorded live in Utrecht with the 54-piece Metropole Orkest, is their most orchestrally ambitious work to date.
Snarky Puppy released Somni, their 17th studio album, recorded live in Utrecht with the Metropole Orkest and conductor Jules Buckley.
Somni was composed by Michael League during a solo retreat in rural Japan in December 2024, then arranged and recorded over three days in January 2025.
The Somni World Tour 2026 includes two nights at Jazz a la Villette in Paris with the Metropole Orkest, followed by dates across Scandinavia and the Baltic states.
Snarky Puppy is scheduled to perform at Allas Pool in Helsinki on 5 September 2026 as part of the Somni World Tour.
The band extended their 2026 US tour to include additional cities such as Seattle, Oakland, Las Vegas, Denver and New Orleans.
