About

Teija Niku (b. 1982) is a Finnish accordionist and composer known for her lyrical command of Nordic and Balkan folk traditions, with three solo albums and twelve US tours to her name. Juha Kujanpää (b. 1974) is a Finnish pianist and composer who moves freely between folk, jazz and progressive rock. The two have worked together since 2008 - including in the folk trio Karuna - and released their debut duo album Aamunkoitto on Rockadillo Records in March 2025, drawing on folk, classical and jazz influences. Niku also serves as artistic director of the Haapavesi Folk Music Festival and teaches at the Sibelius Academy.
