Topmost is a Finnish pop and R&B band founded in Helsinki in 1964, widely regarded as one of the most significant acts in Finnish pop history. The group topped the country's band charts in 1966-67 and toured Denmark and Sweden to such acclaim that the Swedish tabloid Expressen compared them to the Beatles. Remarkably, four of the six original members - Harri Saksala, Eero Lupari, Heimo "Holle" Holopainen and Kristian "Kisu" Jernström - are still performing together. After founding vocalist Gugi Kokljuschkin passed away in March 2025, the band continued with singer-keyboardist Mikko Rintanen joining the lineup.
Founding vocalist and music industry executive Gugi Kokljuschkin died on 7 March 2025 at the age of 77 after a rapidly progressing illness.
Topmost decided to continue performing after Kokljuschkin's death, adding singer-keyboardist Mikko Rintanen to the lineup alongside the four remaining original members.
Gugi Kokljuschkin released his final solo album 'Koska tykeimmät voi' in late February 2025, just days before his death.
Topmost closed its 60th anniversary year with a concert at Helsinki's Tavastia club on 11 December 2024.
