About

Troy Donockley (born 1964, Workington, England) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist best known as a master of the uilleann pipes - one of the very few Englishmen to have reached that level on the instrument. After years of session work and membership in the progressive band Iona, he joined Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish as a full-time member in 2013, having first appeared on their 2007 album Dark Passion Play. In 2017 he co-founded the ambient folk trio Auri with Nightwish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen and vocalist Johanna Kurkela.
