Veila is a four-piece kantele ensemble from Joensuu, founded in 2022 by Siiri Ahtola, Joel Kenakkala, Lumi Ollila and Tiia Turunen. The group plays a single co-play kantele - an instrument that places four kanteles in one frame so all four musicians face each other - making Veila the world's first ensemble of its kind. Their repertoire centres on self-arranged pop hits, and in spring 2025 they released their debut original single 'Uusia alkuja'. In November 2025 the city of Joensuu awarded them its annual cultural prize.
Veila received the Joensuu city cultural prize in November 2025, recognised for renewing kantele music traditions and raising the instrument's profile both locally and internationally.
Karjalainen reported in October 2025 that Veila had released a second original song, continuing their move into original pop music.
Veila released their debut original single 'Uusia alkuja' on 15 April 2025, described by Soundi as full of catchy pop melodies, drum machines and a modern sound world.
