Veila at Harjupaviljonki

Veila is the world's first shared kantele orchestra. This four-member ensemble from Joensuu - Siiri Ahtola, Joel Kenakkala, Lumi Ollila and Tiia Turunen - was founded in 2022 and has built its repertoire on self-arranged pop hits from both Finland and around the world.

Recently, the band has begun composing original material: the first single "New Beginnings" was released in April 2025 and "Continental Plates" in October 2025. More original songs are expected throughout 2026. Both in the borrowed repertoire and in their own compositions, the same idea recurs: to refresh the images traditionally associated with the kantele and bring the instrument into Finnish pop history.
