Hanna Marno: Semisanguineus

Hanna Marno's solo exhibition at Forum Box, 29 May - 21 June 2026.

The Semisanguineus sculpture installation explores material existence amid various forms of naturalness and systems that appear unnatural - as both observer and participant. The exhibition stems from questions related to fungal dyeing and specialized wood-working methods, and how these relate to authorship and temporality.

The title Semisanguineus (Half-blood Red) refers to the colours of the blood webcap mushroom (Cortinarius Semisanguineus), used as a dye in wooden and plaster sculptures, and to sculpture's idea of bringing something to life and offering a vessel. From a material sculpture perspective, it is irrelevant whether something was dead or alive - provided that one of these is considered a condition of shared participation. Certain thoughts, gestures, beings, states, pseudo-living and pseudo-dead, symbionts, growth directions and diagnoses are nonetheless closer to life and thus portentous.
