Hanna Marno: Semisanguineus
Forum Box, Helsinki
ilmainen
Hanna Marno's solo exhibition at Forum Box.
The Semisanguineus sculpture installation reflects on the material condition amid various forms of naturalness and systems that appear artificial, as both observer and participant.
Semisanguineus (Half-blood Red) refers to the colours of the cortinarius semisanguineus fungus used as a dye in the exhibition's wooden and plaster sculptures, as well as to sculpture's idea of bringing something to life and offering a vessel.
From a material sculpture perspective, it is irrelevant whether something is dead or alive, as long as one of these indicators is held as a criterion for some shared participation. It simply happens that certain thoughts, gestures, beings, states, pseudo-living and pseudo-dead, symbionts, growth directions and diagnoses, including these, are closer to life and thus portentous.
The exhibition's starting point is questions related to fungal dyeing work and special wood processing methods concerning the interplay between authorship and temporality.
The exhibition's sound design was created by Harri Sippola.
