Aalto Design - Forms of Wellbeing — Arkkitehtuuri- ja designmuseo, Helsinki

The Architecture and Design Museum's exhibition examines the legacy of Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto from a wellbeing perspective - the balance between people, nature, the built environment and materials. The Aaltos' holistic wellbeing philosophy is connected to contemporary understanding of wellbeing as a question that extends far beyond the individual and encompasses the entire planet.

The exhibition comprises drawings, scale models, furniture, glass objects, material experiments and artworks. It also includes rarely displayed items from the museum's own collections.

On display is, among other works, the multi-channel video artwork Other Actors (2025) by artist-researcher Ilona Sagarin, based in London. The work explores the connections between body and building, and between health and architecture in the Paimio Sanatorium designed by the Aaltos. The Aalto-lounge, designed by Linda Bergrot, offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by authentic Aalto objects.

The exhibition is open from 5.6.2026 to 3.1.2027. Admission 0-23 €. Further information about the exhibition and programme will be published later.
