Helsinki Day is a shared celebration for the entire city.
Helsinki Day is celebrated on June 12 each year to mark the city's birthday. The city fills with free, open-to-all events organized by associations, businesses, clubs, organizations, and active residents. Helsinki Day has been celebrated since 1959.
Helsinki Day's programme features large and small events, music, performing arts, guided tours, exhibitions, and open doors, with activities for children, seniors, and everyone in between.
Traditional highlights include the mayor's morning coffee, the naming of Stadin Kund and Friidu, the awarding of annual culture, sports, and environmental prizes, and the celebration of Helsinki Day babies. The day has become a beloved civic celebration that residents look forward to and enjoy together.
