Helsinki Day at Kanneltalo - Dance Carnival!

Kanneltalo's Helsinki Day is celebrated with dance - a free and open-to-all dance carnival fills Sitratori from 14:00 to 19:00.

The afternoon features Dream Dances, with Marita Taavitsainen & Koivu performing live music from 14:30 to 15:15 and again from 16:00 to 16:45. Before each performance, Dance Theatre Tsuumi offers dance classes suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers. Alongside the stage dances, there is also a balance beam, a wheel of fortune, and a presentation of Helsinki's sports services.

Back 2 the Future (18:00-18:30) combines live music, dance, singing, storytelling, rap and freestyle - the audience can participate in the performance's progression. The journey starts in 1970s New York and travels through 1980s Chicago and millennial Paris into the future. Performers: Simeoni Juoperi, Elias Niskanen, Linda Ilves, Joose Kyyrö, Arttu Rintakumpu.

Fistful of Funk (16:45 and 18:30) is a Will Funk for Food performance combining street dance, absurd theatre and live music. Three lonely cowboys embark on an epic desert journey where 1970s funk dance meets playwright Juho Keräs' text. The work explores friendship and themes of gender roles and masculinity. Performers: Akim Bakhtaoui, Wilhelm Blomberg, Jeffrey Kam. Musician and sound design: Sebastian Kurtén. Drummer: Ville Luukkonen.
