Ruth Schmidt: Symbol

Ruth Schmidt's paintings explore the invisible dimensions of the soul and emotions through symbolist means with surrealist undertones. The artist herself describes her work as follows:

"In my artistic practice, I strive to transcend mere representation of the visible world; my goal is to convey the complex feelings and thoughts hidden in life's invisible aspects. I address universal themes such as childlike faith, attachment, emotions between people, the relationship between God and humanity, transience, hope, love, passion, pain, humour, self-criticism and social critique. Through my often surrealist-tinged symbolist works, I aim to make visible what cannot be put into words. I draw from personal experience, and my works serve as intimate descriptions of my inner world - each one represents a fragment of my soul."

The exhibition is on display in Liszt Institute's Galleria U from 12.6. to 5.8.2026, Mon-Fri 10.00-16.00. Admission is free.

The opening takes place on 12.6. at 18.00. The exhibition will be opened by Béla Balog, one of the curators of the Dávid Art Gallery (Budapest) and the SYMBOL exhibition.
