Knit in Public

Knit in Public Day is an international event celebrated annually in June. Its purpose is to make knitting visible, promote community, and break stereotypes about knitting as a solitary or old-fashioned hobby.

This year, public knitting takes place on Saturday, 13 June 2026, and the Knitters Association together with the Good Homes Association organizes a knitting parade through central Helsinki and a community knitting event at the Central Library Oodi to mark the occasion.

The knitting parade gathers at Narinkkatori at 11:00 and departs at 11:15. The parade follows a short route and ends at Kansalaistori, after which we move to knit together on the 2nd floor of Oodi between 12:00 and 15:00.
