Memories In The Clouds: Opening and Artist Meet
Keskustakirjasto Oodi, Helsinki
The opening of the Memories In The Clouds exhibition (15.6.-2.8.) takes place at Kutioen, with artists Kristina Laine and Albert Laine present to meet visitors. The event is organized by Kristina Laine and Albert Laine.
At the heart of the exhibition is an experimental short film (7.38 min, 16:9 2K) titled Memories In The Clouds - Prisiminimai Debesyse. The work depicts Kristina Laine's (née Žičkutė) childhood memories from a time when the collapsing Soviet Union triggered major social upheaval in Lithuania. Memories and emotions interweave in a dreamlike world of clouds that appears alive like a painting. The film has documentary elements in its structure and is written as poetic narration.
Kristina Laine (Žičkutė) and Albert Laine are award-winning animators working in animation, virtual reality, and media art. Both studied animation at Turku AMK's Academy of Arts and completed their master's degrees at Aalto University. Their works have been shown at domestic and international festivals and art exhibitions, including AnimaDoc, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Helsinki Festival, MIAF, and Tampere Film Festival, as well as on television.
