Myrskyluodon Maija

In summer 2026, the musical drama Myrskyluodon Maija will be performed at Kivinokka summer theatre. The story, based on Anni Blomqvist's novel series, is familiar to many from Åke Lindman's television adaptation from the 1970s, the 2024 film version, or Lasse Mårtensson's song.

The stage adaptation written by Jussi Helminen will premiere on 25.6.2026. Director: Kari Kinnaslampi, music: Matti Puurtinen - the orchestra is a four-piece ensemble conducted by Mikko Mattila. The lead roles are played by Heidi Kyrö (Maija), Inga Sulin (old Maija) and Juho Taskinen (Janne), with over 20 actors in supporting roles. Choreography: Anneli Rautiainen, costumes: Mona Aho, set design: Maija Michelsson and Artturi Iivarinen.

The story is set in the late 19th century in the Åland archipelago, where life in the midst of harsh nature brings both hardship and love.
