Banjo Spectacular Miihkali Jaatinen
took place · 28 Jun 2026
Description was written before the event
Miihkali Jaatinen takes the audience on an English-language banjo spectacular through the history of the banjo - from Africa via slave ships to the United States and to the present day, through many musical and social movements.
The performance covers both the history of music and Western culture through storytelling and playing. The stage features several different banjos: from 5-string fretless to electric banjo, tenor, resonator, and plectrum banjo. The repertoire ranges from old time tradition through bluegrass and New Orleans jazz to folk music - and when needed, also into the worlds of rock, prog, and metal.
On stage: Miihkali Jaatinen. Spoken parts in English. The performance is produced in collaboration with the Concert Centre.
