Banjo Spectacular with Miihkali Jaatinen

In this English-language show for children and young people, Miihkali Jaatinen takes the audience on a journey through the colorful history of the banjo.

The Banjo Spectacular presents the history of music and Western culture through playing various banjos and telling stories. The show takes the audience through the banjo's vibrant narrative, which begins in Africa, travels on slave ships to the United States, and eventually develops into its modern form, influencing many musical and social movements. The central theme of the banjo's journey is the unifying power of music.

The repertoire evolves with the audience, and there are many different banjos on display - from 5-string to stringless, from electric banjo to tenor, resonator, and plectrum banjo. The banjo's strings flow smoothly from old time tradition, bluegrass swing, New Orleans jazz to the storytelling of folk music.

And that's not all: the banjo rocks, progresses, and thunders even in metal time. The Banjo Spectacular is full of surprises - welcome aboard!
