The photo exhibition "The Many Faces of Pain" presents pain patients from across Finland.

The exhibition aims to show that pain is not visible on the surface but is part of a person who carries it within. The exhibition displays part of a larger body of work photographed last summer in different parts of Finland.

Photographer Ville Taipale is himself a pain patient and suffers from CRPS - complex regional pain syndrome - like most of those he photographed. Despite his condition, Ville rode a motorcycle for 5 days and 2500 km around Finland to meet pain patients and photograph them. The goal is to raise awareness about pain patients and especially those with CRPS.

"The images tell the story that the subject wanted to tell. Some pictures show the place where the pain condition began to spread, and in some works the person stands before the camera as their true self."
