Sudenmorsiamet - Open Stage

Sudenmorsiamet is an Ingrian Finnish folk music ensemble whose roots reach into the rich and diverse Finnic traditions of Ingria.

The group came together when childhood friends reunited after many years - in a moment when a shared musical voice emerged naturally and deepened their connection through music and heritage.

Sudenmorsiamet's song collection draws from layers of different centuries. The ensemble actively searches archives, songbooks, and poetry collections for forgotten texts and melodies, explores their origins, and brings them to life through their own compositions and arrangements. At the same time, new music is created: songs rooted in family memories and stories, depicting the everyday lives and experiences of ancestors.

Ingrian Finnish folk tradition has largely faded from historical view, and many no longer know of its richness. Sudenmorsiamet work actively to preserve and revitalize this heritage through concerts, workshops, and recordings. Their aim is to bring at least some of this beautiful cultural legacy back into people's awareness - and give it a new, living future.
