Pohjolan Ilmari's songs explore sorrowful fates, the death of loved ones, contentment in the face of humanity's end, and hospital visits - yet all are marked by human tenderness and humour. The band has been on a long hiatus and is known for its artistic uncompromisingness.

Their newer work is musically winding and no longer confined to the Kallio-romantic framework of their debut album "Enkä mä rakasta ketään". That album received an Emma nomination in the critics' choice category. Between the songs, the band's own aesthetic vision serves as a binding element.
