Ella Isotalo | Dänkki Briha - Etno-Espa
Espan lava, Helsinki
ilmainen
Ella Isotalo and Dänkki Briha guide the Etno-Espa afternoon from cinematic sound worlds to futuristic ethno-electronic and folktronica.
16.00 | Ella Isotalo
Ella Isotalo's music is cinematic and takes listeners to different fascinating landscapes. The inspiration for Ella's solo material comes from the musical tradition of the Tanzanian Wagogo people and her own heritage.
The Helsinki-based musician and composer plays violin, jouhikko, and the Wagogo ilimba - a type of finger piano - and sings in Finnish and Swahili. The pieces are built live layer by layer with loopers and contain improvisation.
The Wagogo tradition, which Ella has studied in Tanzania, merges with her own South Ostrobothnian and Savo-Karelian heritage.
