Malmitalo's gallery presents works from a collaborative project between the Helsinki Artists' Association and the Tampere Artists' Association - Ecological Art Workshops. The exhibition opens on 4.6.2026 at 5 p.m. and is part of Malmi's summer opening events.
The workshops were held on 9-10 May 2026 at the Helsinki Artists' Association's course centre at the Cable Factory. Visual artists Satu Kalliokuusi - who participated in the "Sentient Forest" project funded by the Kone Foundation - and Terhi Ekebom led and inspired the workshops. The material "Forest Futures Stories 2025" published by the Kone Foundation served as inspiration, based on discussions from the Great Forest Dialogue coordinated by the "For the Forest" initiative and DialogiAcademy.
The workshops produced ecological plant-based dyes from natural plants, which were used to paint theme-related works and zine artist books. Some works were created by artists in their own studios after the workshop weekend.
The exhibition features works by the following artists: Milja Hakkarainen, Helena Hartman, Sanna Härkönen, Katri Ikävalko, Merja Isomaa-James, Anna-Leena Kinnunen, Jaana Kirjonen, Jenni Koivurova, Jaana Kortelainen, Tiina Kymäläinen, Heta Laitakari, Carla Lundell, Hilkka Luosa, Pia Männikkö, Noora Palmu, Pilvi Pääkkönen, Terhi Sallinen, Merja Salonen Di Giorgio, Saara Sillanpää and Maija Toropainen.
