Katja Vedeneva's art exhibition brings together two landscape worlds: the lake nature of the north and the colours of the island of Crete.

Vedeneva's inspiration from northern nature dates back to when she worked as a restorer on the island of Valamo in Lake Ladoga. Since then, she has painted outdoors in Karelia, Central Finland, and in Valkealas in Kymenlaakso. In particular, the landscapes of Valkealas and Lake Lappalanjärvi - the rocks, steep lake shores, the shimmer of water, and red sunsets - have recurred in her works. Her first visit to Crete opened a new world of subjects: the island's clear light and colours led to repeated journeys, and through them a collection of paintings emerged in which Vedeneva describes discovering new ways of using colour.

Vedeneva has held her own exhibitions in various places in Finland since 2008 and participated in numerous joint exhibitions. She has about ten years of experience as a children's art teacher, and her paintings are in private collections in Finland, England, Italy, and Greece.

The exhibition is open during the library's opening hours.
